Can we wish, if it were possible, to walk in a path strewed with flowers when His path was strewed with thorns?

Spurgeon’s Daily Help
The more you know about Christ, the less you’ll be satisfied with a shallow understanding of Him. The deeper you study His life and the fullness of His grace in all His roles, the more clearly you’ll see the King in His beauty. Long more and more to see Jesus. Meditation and contemplation are like windows
of agate and gates of precious stones through which we see the Redeemer. Meditation is like a telescope that helps us see Jesus more clearly than we ever could have even if we lived during His time on earth. If only we would focus more on the person, work, and beauty of our incarnate Lord.

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

Great men often have people waiting in their halls for hours, returning again and again to seek a favor; surely, we should be willing to wait for the God of Heaven if we’re seeking Him. Thrice blessed is the one who gets an early audience, and doubly
blessed is the one who gets an audience at all. Yet, it sometimes feels hard to stand at a door that doesn’t open even after repeated knocks. "I wait for the Lord; my soul waits, and in His word, I hope."
