Prayer is the sure sign that salvation is near. Sinner, you can’t pray and still perish; prayer and perishing are two things that never go together. I don’t care what your prayer sounds like—it might be a groan, it might be a tear, but if it comes from your deepest heart, you will be saved. If from your

heart you’ve learned to pray—

"Prayer is the breath of God in man, Returning whence it came"—

Then you can’t perish with God’s breath in you. "Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved!"

I saw a garden in spring, so covered with flowers of every color that it made me imagine a rainbow had been stolen from the sky and laid on the ground. And why not? Why shouldn’t we expect glimpses of Heaven among us still? We are on our way there, so

why shouldn’t we have a foretaste of it? Shouldn’t our Sundays foreshadow the eternal Sabbath, and our times of communion be pledges and previews of the fellowship we’ll have in Heaven?
