For whoever enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from His. — Heb 4:10 BSB

What a rest it would be for many of us if we could exchange our burdens with Christ—if we could so completely transfer our cares and needs to Him that we no longer felt responsible for them, but knew that He had taken them up. Our only role would be to carry His burdens, while He prays, labors, and suffers for us and our concerns. This is exactly what He invites us to do. “Come unto Me,” He says, “all ye that labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” Then He adds, “Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me.” He takes our yoke, and we take His—and His burdens are far easier to bear than our own.

It’s so much more delightful to spend an hour in prayer for someone else than five minutes pleading for ourselves. Aren’t we weary of carrying our own heavy loads?

‘Twas for this His mercy sought you,
And to all His fullness brought you,
By the precious blood that bought you,
Pass it on.
