But I have had God’s help to this day, and I stand here to testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen: — Acts 26:22 BSB
The apostle Paul had endured nearly twenty-five years of hardship and toil, never wavering in his faith and confession of Christ. But he did not take any credit for his perseverance. He recognized that his help came from God.
Many young people are afraid to commit to a Christian life because they fear they won’t be able to stay true to the end. But the message for them is clear: God will give them the help they need for every duty, every struggle, and every sorrow they will face. They need only to be faithful each day, trusting God for the grace required in the moment. The help will come, quietly and sufficiently, exactly when it is needed.
God never places a burden on us without giving us the strength to carry it. The way to receive help from Him is to move forward in obedience, trusting that the help will come as we need it. We won’t receive the help by waiting for it before we act. It will come as we walk in obedience, step by step.
“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you.’” 2 Corinthians 12:9
