Christian, learn to find comfort in God's gracious dealings with the church. What is dear to your Master should be dear above all else to you. Even if your path is dark, can’t you find joy in the triumphs of His cross and the spread of His truth? Our personal troubles are forgotten when we focus not

only on what God has done and is doing for His people but also on the glorious things He will do for His church. Try this remedy, O believer, whenever you feel heavy-hearted: "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem," and your own soul will be refreshed.

There are flaws in every person that even grace does not erase. "When the peacock is proud of his fine feathers," says the old Master Dyer, "he may be humbled by looking at his black feet." Similarly, whenever the brightest Christian begins to be proud

of their virtues, there will always be something about them to remind others—and themselves—that they are still human.
