Spurgeon’s Daily Help

"When a person’s ways are pleasing to the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them." —Proverbs 16:7.

I need to make sure my actions please the Lord. Even then, I might have enemies—perhaps even more so because I strive to do what is right. But what a promise this is! The Lord will turn even people’s

anger into praise for Him, and He will lessen it so that it doesn’t harm me. When I face death, which is called the last enemy, I pray to be at peace. My greatest concern should always be to please the Lord in everything.

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

June 30

Praise the Lord for the sun of joy when it rises and for the evening of sorrow when it falls. There’s beauty in both sunrise and sunset, so sing about it and glorify the Lord. Like the nightingale, sing happy songs even at midnight. Believe that the night

of weeping is as important as the morning of joy. The dews of grace fall heavily in the night of sorrow, and the stars of promise shine brightly in the darkness of grief. "We even rejoice in our sufferings."
