Spurgeon’s Daily Help
This time in history is especially marked by the Holy Spirit’s work. Jesus comforts us not by His physical presence, as He will in the future, but by the Holy Spirit’s constant presence, who is always the Church's Comforter. The Holy Spirit’s job is to console the hearts of God’s people. He convicts
us of sin, enlightens and teaches us; but the main part of His work is making the renewed hearts joyful, strengthening the weak, and lifting up those who are downcast. He does this by revealing Jesus to us. The Holy Spirit brings comfort, but Christ is the comfort itself.

Despair is unreasonable. Take a lesson from the bare branches, stripped of their leaves, where the wind sighs through them. These branches will once again be covered with beautiful foliage, showing off new beauty and growth. Why not believe the same could
happen for you if you look up and hope in God? His love will bring a springtime to your soul and lead you to a summer of ultimate joy.
