Today’s Quote
Laziness in the Christian life is a prelude to spiritual defeat.
— J.C. Ryle
Spurgeon’s Daily Help
No Christian is safe when their soul is lazy, and God feels distant. Every Christian is always secure in their standing with Christ, but not necessarily in their day-to-day experience of holiness and closeness to Jesus. Satan rarely attacks a Christian who is living close to God. It’s when a Christian
drifts away from God, becomes spiritually starved, and starts seeking satisfaction in worthless things, that the devil finds his opportunity. Sometimes, Satan might confront a Christian who is active in their service to God, but those battles are usually brief. Oh, for the grace to walk humbly and closely with our God!

Preach Christ, and the influence of priests diminishes. The powerful old truths of Calvinism, now often pushed aside, are like the great cannons that can blow away the heresies of our time if they are boldly and consistently preached in balance with the
rest of revealed truth. These doctrines have been like warships kept in storage during peacetime; let’s send them out to unleash their power against the enemy.
