Our heavenly Father often draws us with cords of love. How slow we are to respond to His gentle prompting! He draws us to trust Him more simply, but we haven’t yet reached the level of Abraham’s faith. We don’t leave our worldly cares with God. Our weak faith leaves our souls undernourished; we don’t

open our hearts wide, even though God has promised to fill them. Isn’t He drawing us to trust Him today? Can’t we hear Him say, "Come, my child, and trust Me. The veil is torn; enter into My presence. I am worthy of your fullest trust; cast your cares on Me. Shake off the dust of your worries, and put on your beautiful garments of joy."

When the weather is cold and bleak, we must set our hearts firmly against the chill and decide that if our bodies shiver, our hearts will stay warm. Our thanksgiving for God’s mercy isn’t like a bird that flies away with the summer; the song in our hearts

sings all year round. The fire of gratitude will keep us warm: let’s heap up the logs of loving memories. No cold can freeze the flow of gratitude in our hearts; our praise will keep flowing even when the rivers are bound in ice.
