The Divine Visitor
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and redeemed His people. — Luke 1:68 BSB
What a beautiful thought it is that God visits His people on this earth! We remember how He visited Adam and Eve, Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, and others in the past.
But the most wonderful visit was when Christ came and stayed for so long, doing so much to bless the world. After He ascended, we might think He left forever, but He continues to visit us. Whenever His children are in trouble, He comes to help them. Often, we don’t realize it because He comes unseen and quietly, but He’s there.
He also visits those who aren’t saved, urging them to accept salvation. He comes when we are in danger, when we’re sick or suffering, to comfort and strengthen us. Sometimes He knocks on our hearts’ doors, wanting to give us a blessing, but we don’t open up.
There’s a story of an old Scottish woman who couldn’t pay her rent. The landlord threatened to take her belongings. A kind friend went to her home to offer help, but when he knocked, she thought it was the officer coming to seize her goods and didn’t open the door. She later found out it was her friend coming to help her.
In the same way, Christ knocks on our doors, knowing our need and wanting to bless us. We sometimes refuse to let Him in, not realizing who He is. We must remember that Christ’s visits always bring blessings, and we rob ourselves when we keep Him out.
