He Careth for You
For the Mighty One has done great things for me. Holy is His name. — Luke 1:49 BSB
Isn’t it amazing that the mighty God, so great and holy, would ever think of a lowly sinner like me? But does He really? It almost seems impossible. Think of how many millions of people there are in the world. Could the glorious God truly care about one individual person? Maybe He gives special attention to kings or especially good people, but surely not to someone as small and insignificant as me. But yes, He does.
Remember the story of the child dying of thirst in the desert? God heard its cries and sent an angel to show the way to water. Then there’s the story of the baby placed in a little basket by its mother and set among the reeds beside the river. God watched over that helpless child and provided for it in amazing ways. And don’t forget that Jesus said God cares even for the sparrows and feeds them, and He clothes the flowers in the field with beauty.
If God cares about birds and flowers, how much more does He care about us? We are far more valuable than sparrows and flowers. We have immortal souls, and we are His children. What father doesn’t care deeply for his children? God knows each of us by name. He hears our prayers. He knows when something is wrong in our lives or when we’re in trouble. He watches over us every day and sends us blessings constantly. What an incredible thought—that God thinks of each one of us and does great things for us!
