The Stone Rolled Away
They were asking one another, “Who will roll away the stone from the entrance of the tomb?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away, even though it was extremely large. — Mark 16:3-4 BSB
We are all alike. Even these holy women, on their sacred mission, borrowed trouble. They were worried about the stone blocking the tomb, knowing they didn’t have the strength to move it. They began to fret about how they could overcome this obstacle. But when they arrived, they found the stone had already been rolled away. God’s love had gone before them, preparing the way. Angels had moved the stone.
The lesson is simple and beautiful. We often worry about the difficulties ahead, wondering how we’ll overcome them. But when we reach those challenges, we find that God has already removed them. God always opens the way of duty for us when we move forward in faith.
This applies to beginning a Christian life. Many hesitate, thinking they can’t be faithful, bear the burdens, or fulfill the duties. But as they step forward in faith, they find an unseen Helper going before them, making the hard tasks easier and the burdens lighter. This continues throughout the Christian life. God’s commands may seem impossible at first, but as we go on, we find they become manageable. Stones roll away, and paths open up. The practical lesson is not to hesitate or turn back because obstacles seem to block our way. We should move forward in faith, trusting God to remove the barriers. When He calls us to go somewhere, He will open the path for us. With this assurance, we can confidently go on, knowing we are safe.
