Morning
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you unblemished in His glorious presence, with great joy— — Jude 1:24 BSB
Meditate on that amazing word—“faultless.” We are far from it now, but because our Lord never stops short of perfection in His love for us, we will one day attain it. The same Savior who preserves His people to the end will present them to Himself as a “glorious church, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but holy and blameless.” Every jewel in the Savior’s crown is flawless, without a single imperfection. Every attendant of the Lamb’s bride will be pure and spotless.
How will Jesus make us faultless? He will wash away our sins in His own blood, cleansing us so that we become as pure and radiant as the angels. He will clothe us in His perfect righteousness, making us completely acceptable in God’s sight. In that day, we will be blameless, beyond reproach, even in the eyes of a holy God. His law will not only find no fault in us—it will be glorified in us.
Moreover, the work of the Holy Spirit within us will be completed. Every trace of sin will be removed, and we will no longer have any tendency to sin. Our minds, hearts, and wills—every part of us—will be perfectly freed from the power of evil. We will be as holy as God is holy and will dwell in His presence forever.
In heaven, the beauty of the saints will match the beauty of that glorious place. Oh, the joy of that moment when the everlasting gates swing open and we, made worthy by His grace, enter into the eternal light of heaven! Sin will be gone, Satan defeated, temptation overcome forever, and we will stand faultless before the Lord. That will be heaven indeed!
Let us rejoice now as we anticipate that day, lifting our voices in praise to the Lamb who has made us clean. Just as David danced before the ark, let us worship before the throne with joyful hearts.
Evening
I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless. — Jer 15:21 BSB
Notice the majestic person behind this promise: “I will.” It is the Lord Jehovah Himself who steps in to deliver and redeem His people. He pledges Himself to rescue us, not depending on our strength or effort, but solely on His own mighty arm. He undertakes the task alone, so that He may receive all the glory.
There is no mention here of our contribution to the work. God doesn’t ask for our assistance; His “I” stands alone, like the blazing sun in the sky, sufficient for every need. Why, then, do we look to our own abilities or consult with human wisdom, to our own confusion and harm? Jehovah has all the power necessary, without borrowing strength from us. Be still, doubting heart, and know that the Lord reigns.
There is also no mention of secondary means or helpers. God does not call on friends or allies to aid in His work. He alone is enough, and He needs no human assistance. Why, then, do we look to others for help when only God can deliver us? Friends and companions may fail us, but God never will. If our trust is in Him alone, we will never be disappointed.
Who are the wicked that we should fear them? The Lord will destroy them completely. We need not fear their threats. If we stand firm in our integrity, the rage of our enemies will only serve God’s purposes for our good. Just as the fish couldn’t digest Jonah, the world cannot devour the Church. In times of trial, let us remain patient and trust in the Lord’s deliverance.
